A family, a dream
O ur family has been engaged in agriculture for more than 80 years, cultivating over 500 hectares of land within the municipality of Berra (FE), in a particularly favourable natural environment.
In 2013, thanks to the most advanced technologies and following the passion of our father Ettore, founder of the Bellettato farm, we decided to start a new adventure, planting the first 5 hectares of vineyard.
The vineyard, initially cultivated with Trebbiano Romagnolo and since 2019 also with Chardonnay and Merlot, is located just below the banks of the Po river, in a medium-textured alluvial soil, rich in mineral salts and nutrients.
With the first harvests, which resulted in the production of Uldino, Don Bruno and Battista wines, distribution also began in the local clubs and restaurants. Our success among restaurateurs has pushed us towards the production of new wines. This is how Patarosè in 2018 and L’Ettore in 2019 were created.
These were years of great news and expansions, both concerning the cultivated land, which expanded by an additional 3 hectares in 2019, as well as for distribution. Since April 2019, our wines have appeared in the large regional distribution chain (Despar and Pam) under the labels Sganzèga, Bubàna, Arbaltà and Alégar. In the same year, we also began distributing to restaurateurs in California, while in 2020 we reached Venezuela.
The process of continuous growth also included the launch of the new Astemio in 2021, a brut sparkling wine made with Trebbiano Romagnolo and Chardonnay grapes, in classic and Magnum formats.
Soil and production
Soil and cultivation and production techniques are key to our wines' success. In the first 5 hectares of Trebbiano Romagnolo, the farming system is of the single curtain or free cord type, the distance between the plants is 120 cm and the distance between the rows is 270 cm.
On the other hand, in the 3 hectares of Chardonnay and Merlot grapes, the farming system is of the guyot type, so the distance between the plants is 100 cm, while the distance between the rows is always 270 cm.
Harvesting is usually carried out in the third week of September at night with a self-propelled harvester, where in just over an hour the grapes are brought into the cellar and processed to maintain their qualitative characteristics.
The defence of our vineyard is carried out following the integrated agricultural production regulations of Emilia Romagna, an agricultural production system with a low environmental impact that provides for coordinated and rational use of all production factors to minimise the use of technical means that have an impact on the environment or consumer health.
With this system, we intend to bring our organic wine to the tables of Italians within a few years.
